Eggplant Submissions

The aim of Eggplant Submissions is to send out a poet's work to markets that will offer the poet the best chance for publication. In other words, we try to make the poems and the market be the best possible match. Of course, we can not guarantee publication, but we can guarantee that we will do our absolute best to place your work.

We like to have at least 30-40 poems to work with submitted on a standard floppy disk and sent to us, or you may submit the poems via email. Each poem should be on a separate document; your name and address in upper left corner, title of poem flush left and then the body of poem, also flush left. Microsoft word format is preferred. If you do not have computer access just mail one paper copy of each poem prepared in the proper format for submission . Include a short bio - about 5-7 lines. We do everything else - including sending out the poems with cover letters, all copying and postage expenses (gold package), tracking the submissions, re-contacting editors, follow-up inquiries and mailing your contributor's copies and/or all monetary payment due you from paying markets.

Bronze package: $100 - for five separate submissions (each submission includes 3-7 poems depending on market). + Poet pays postage and copying costs.

Silver package: $200 - for 12 separate submissions + poet pays postage and copying costs.

Gold package: $325 - for six months worth of unlimited submissions. This means I start out with at least five submissions and as soon as a submission is acknowledged from one market I send out another submission to a separate market. This could result in up to 20 or more submissions depending on market response time. More bang for your buck :-) Eggplant also pays all postage and copying costs.

Manuscript preparation is also available, but this is a separate service which is dependent on the number of poems to be prepared for publication and will be negotiated with each individual poet. In the event that your work could benefit from editorial suggestions before being submitted for publication, we will advise you about our editorial services which are available in person, through the mail or via internet chat.

Usually about a third of the submissions we send out are to Internet magazines, but if you prefer we will send out only to print magazines. Also, if you have favorite print (or internet) publications you would like to try we can include these in your market submissions.
